A visually engaging sweets publication celebrating local dessert culture
Vancouver Sweets is a conceptual editorial publication inspired by a simple question: how can magazines feel visually engaging for a younger generation in a digital-first world?
The publication celebrates local dessert culture while highlighting small businesses and neighborhood shops. Rather than functioning as a purely informational magazine, the project emphasizes visual enjoyment, browsing, and atmosphere, encouraging readers to explore through imagery, color, and composition.

Design Approach
A playful editorial exploration of color, imagery, and visual indulgence
The visual direction focuses on vibrancy, richness, and making the sweets feel visually irresistible. Photography plays a central role in the publication, with imagery prioritized over text to create an experience that feels engaging and enjoyable to browse. At the same time, store information was presented clearly to ensure readability and ease of navigation.
Some photographs were self-produced, with careful attention to styling and presentation. Working within limited resources, I explored ways to highlight the unique qualities and character of each dessert.
Rather than maintaining a fixed layout style, the compositions evolve throughout the publication, creating moments of contrast, playfulness, and visual surprise. Color and graphic elements were selected to enhance warmth and lightheartedness, reinforcing the magazine’s joyful atmosphere.
